Stained Glass Panel
Project type
Stained Glass
Date
April 2025
Location
Glasgow
This panel was apart of my work placement, which I was lucky enough to carry out with Stained Glass artist Brian Waugh of Cobweb glass. Sized at 24x12cm, it took approximately two months of weekly sessions at the studio to complete. It is my first experience with the stained glass process and definitely won't be the last!
I was asked to sketch a design that represented me as an artist - in order to start feeling the passion for the project it has to come from the heart. I chose to place an eye in the centre to display my love for surrealist art, and each of the floral painted panel pieces represents a special or significant part of my life to this part.
The Daffodil is my favourite flower, and means self-love and new beginnings.
The Hydrangea is the flower that grew outside my late grans house, which we recently moved to. Currently in the process of reviving the bush!
The Sunflower represents my late friend Catianna, who has deeply impacted my journey as a person and as an artist.
The Fuschia is simply a favoured flower, and also one of the first flowers I ever painted successfully! Placing it in this panel was to represent my own growth as a mixed media artist.
Overall, this panel is a very big project for me to reflect on. It renewed my passion for glasswork to a whole new level, and i've never been more sure that this is the path I want to take.
